DirectOut GmbH was founded in 2008 by a team of professional sound engineers headed up by Stephan Flock. The company specializes in developing essential pro audio connectivity, networking and bridging solutions for broadcast, studio, live and installed sound applications.
Unique in that all members of the DirectOut development team are still active professional sound engineers, the company is thus fully focused on real-world demands and problem solving.
The product range, marketed under the brand of DirectOut Technologies®, offers solutions that build bridges between different audio worlds and make systems and formats more flexible. Audio formats supported include MADI, SoundGrid, Dante, RAVENNA and the standards AES67 and SMPTE ST2110-30.
KYRA is a 1U audio monitoring device for signal control in MADI environments such as broadcast or PA installations.
It incorporates an 8 x 2 mixer, allowing the operator to set up an 8-channel stereo mix from either eight mono or four stereo channels from the incoming MADI stream.
The monitor mix is output to a pair of integrated speakers on the front panel.
MA2CHBOX.XL is a compact, free-standing reference class headphone amplifier for MADI (AES10) and AES3 signals for use in MADI-based broadcast and recording environments.
Its extremely small footprint makes it ideal for viewing rooms, edit suites or small OB vehicles where space is at a premium.
The device features three MADI ports, an AES3 port, a headphone output and a stereo line level output.
MI6 is a 1U audio monitoring device for signal control in MADI environments such as broadcast or PA installations.
Typical applications include confidence monitoring in OB vans or studio applications as well as edit suites or commentary seats. MI6 provides three MADI inputs and outputs, headphones out, an analog stereo line out and an AES3 output. 16 channels can be summed with individual levels onto a main mix, which is output via the device’s integrated speakers and other outputs.
EXBOX.64 is an active signal converter and re-clocker for MADI signals. Two MADI I/Os (1 x optical SC and 1 x coaxial BNC) enable MADI signals to be converted from optical to coaxial and vice versa. The input signals, which are not required to be in sync with each other, are cross patched to the corresponding output. The output signal is re-clocked at the output, thus refreshing the signal for cable length extensions.
EXBOX.AES is an AES/MADI converter with eight AES I/Os capable of converting up to 16 audio channels from AES to MADI and vice-versa. At the same time serial data (RS-232) can be embedded into or de-embedded from the MADI signal. All settings such as the signal routing, baud rate and the scaling factor are accessible on the front panel of the device.
EXBOX.MD is a Dante / MADI converter linking Audinate’s audio networking technology Dante and MADI (AES10). Equipped with three MADI ports and four network ports it offers straight-forward conversion of 64 audio channels between MADI and Dante.
MADI.9648 is a synchronous MADI sample rate converter with four independent SRC blocks for bidirectional conversion of 128 audio channels. Equipped with eight MADI ports it features synchronous low latency conversion in a ratio of exactly 1:2 or 2:1 to translate between 2 FS (88.2/96 kHz) and 1 FS (44.1/48 kHz).
MADI.SRC offers best quality sample rate conversion of a complete MADI stream (64 audio channels) in real time. The device supports any source and destination sample rates from 30 kHz to 50 kHz and their multiples. High-end chips with a THD+N > 140dB and a frequency response linearity better than 0.025 dB guarantee excellent sound quality.
